Hosting
WordPress plugin
The plugin shows your gallery on any page of a WordPress website. It's for hosted Missionary Lane churches and approved self-hosting churches.
Get the plugin #
- Hosted churches: sign in to the admin and open Help → The WordPress plugin, or the WordPress link in the setup wizard's Share it screen.
- Self-hosting churches: download it from your self-hosting page.
Either way you get missionary-lane-wordpress.zip. The download link is made for you and expires after a short time.
Install it #
- In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the
missionary-lane-wordpress.zipfile, press Install Now, then Activate. - Go to Settings → Missionary Lane, paste your gallery address (it must start with
https://), and save. Hosted churches find it in Share it; self-hosted, it's where the desktop app published the gallery. - On any page, add a Shortcode block with
[missionary_lane].
Shortcode options #
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
view="walk", view="list" or view="map" | Opens that view first. |
height="820" | The starting height in pixels, from 480 to 4,000. The gallery then grows to fit. |
title="Our missionaries" | Names the frame for screen readers. |
url="https://…" | Shows a different gallery address than the one in Settings. |
For example:
[missionary_lane view="list" height="900"]
Good to know #
- The plugin needs WordPress 5.8 or later and PHP 7.4 or later.
- It only accepts
httpsgallery addresses and loads no scripts from other websites. - If the address isn't set yet, WordPress administrators see a reminder on the page instead of the gallery. Visitors see nothing.
- Not using the plugin? Paste the embed snippet into a Custom HTML block instead.
